Salt in Cheshire - an illustrated talk
Congleton Library - downstairs meeting room
Culture
Monday 14th April

Cheshire has been known as a source of salt for millennia. Its importance to Ancient Britons and Romans for keeping people and animals healthy, as well as preserving and seasoning food, led to the rise of the Cheshire Wiches.
In more recent centuries, the availability of Cheshire salt led to the develoment of the chemical industry in Runcorn and Widnes.
Salt in Cheshire is the next topic in Mike Tingle's Monthly Miscellany series of illustrated presentations at Congleton Library. They take place on the second Monday afternoon of each month, covering a variety of subjects of local and/or historical interest.
The talk will also be presented at 2:30pm Monday 14th at Congleton Library; and also at Sandbach Library (11am Friday 4th) and Holmes Chapel Library (11am Tuesday 15th).
Come and learn about the domestic and industrial importance of this vital mineral.
