House that 'brought misery' to Congleton community shut down by police
A house that 'brought misery' to the Congleton community has been shut down by police.
Officers received numerous reports of anti-social behaviour, drug-related activity and disturbances coming from an address on Fern Crescent, with people visiting the property day and night.
After gathering enough evidence, and working in partnership with Regenda Homes, officers from the Congleton Beat Team attended Warrington Magistrates Court on Thursday (May 1) where they were granted a three-month closure order.
PC Helen Weeks said: "We are determined to make the community a safe environment for everyone, and closure orders allow us to do this.
"The occupants were given ample opportunity to seek assistance from external agencies however these offers of support were not taken up.
"Our next step was to obtain a closure order from the courts.
"The behaviour around the Fern Crescent property is totally unacceptable and I know that residents will be greatly relieved to hear the news today."
The occupants of the address have been ordered to leave the property and find alternative accommodation.
All windows and doors are now boarded up and will remain boarded up for a period of three months.
Anyone who enters the address during that time is committing an offence and can be arrested.
Police have reminded anyone with concerns about anti-social behaviour to report it via the website or by calling 101.

PC Weeks added: "I hope our ongoing work to tackle these issues in our neighbourhoods will provide some reassurance to the communities we serve that we will use every power available to us to restore some normality to the area.
