Colonel Sanders is coming to Congleton.

KFC at Viking Park will welcome its first customers on Friday (May 2).

The new fried chicken restaurant will create 40 jobs for the local community.

A spokesperson for KFC said: "We're so excited to be opening our first restaurant in Congleton, bringing our Original Recipe to local fried chicken fans and creating new jobs in the community.

"We're grateful to everyone who has helped bring our new restaurant to life and we can't wait to welcome our first customers today."

KFC did previously have a restaurant in Congleton, located on the site of what is now Halfords Autocentre.

However, this shut for business around a decade ago.

The new Viking Park restaurant helps the Kentucky-based company towards its goal of opening 500 new locations across the UK over the next decade, creating more than 20,000 jobs.

Its opening comes just a day after Starbucks swung open its doors at the new retail park.
