We're halfway through 2022, so we thought we'd take a look back at what has happened in our town over the past six months.

Congleton Nub News has grown exponentially over the past half-a-year, so you may have missed some of the best stories we've produced in 2022.

Here are the Top 10 most read Congleton Nub News articles of 2022 (as of publication of this article).

Please note: Any articles published after June 16 2022 will not qualify for this list.

Without further ado...

No 10 Congleton woman to raise thousands in memory of cousin

In February we spoke with Congleton woman Kelly Gordon, who was about to go on a charity hike in memory of a late cousin, who sadly died young of a rare disease.

Fast forward to today, the West Heath resident has raised a whopping £4,420 for Huntington's Disease Association.

And you can still donate by clicking here. Well done Kelly!

No 9 Congleton: The Little Cow Shed to celebrate a year in business

In February we went to Dale Farm, opposite Brereton Heath, on Davenport Lane.

A year prior, a self-serve fresh milkshake business had opened.

It runs for 24 hours, and become an overnight sensation.

We love doing anniversary stories at Congleton Nub News, and so do the businesses, as you can tell by reading the full story here.

No 8 Meet Congleton's new community-driven estate agency

New to our high street (literally, it is on High Street) in January we welcomed Stephenson Browne Congleton.

They wasted no time helping out in the community, having sponsored Congleton Grizzlies basketball team, and attending Congleton events.

The estate agents even came second in this June's Queen's Jubilee shop window competition, held by Congleton Town Council.

Find out more about our town's newest estate agents and how you can sell your home with them here.

No 7 Congleton pub ends relationship with Russian gas supplier

Not the most uplifting story on the list, but popular nevertheless.

Recently refurbished Congleton venue The Lion & Swan hit the headlines just after Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

This was because they terminated their relationship with Gazprom.

They also pulled the plug on Russian energy for Peck's in Brownlow Heath.

No 6 Restaurant plans submitted for ex-Congleton charity shop

The former British Heart Foundation shop in Congleton could be converted into an Italian restaurant.

The site on 21 Bridge Street has been vacant for the whole pandemic, so it would be nice to see it filled with al fresco dining and proper pizza.

Plans aren't approved yet, but that didn't stop you from making it our sixth most read story of the year.

No 5 Congleton resident opens new haberdashery shop after trade booms…

At number five we have have this feel-good story that may not have happened if not for the pandemic.

One industry that COVID had a positive impact on was knitting.

So much so, a West Heath woman decided to open a haberdashery just a short drive from Congleton.

No 4 Meet the new operators of The Bulls Head Congleton

Just missing out on the top three most read stories of the year (so far), we say welcome to a new pair of publicans.

On May 17 we introduced Congleton to Jamie and Phil Parry, the new couple behind The Bulls Head.

They want more events at the Swan Bank pub. As you can see by clicking on our fourth most read story here.

It is very similar to our number three story. Speaking of which...

No 3 Congleton: Meet the new landlord of The Prince of Wales

For the bronze podium on this list, we're heading to a Lawton Street pub.

In Mid-May, we met with Jordan Oldfield, who moved from Nantwich to take on a new pub in Congleton.

He has big plans for the pub, with an emphasis on live music.

Learn his philosophy and life story by clicking here.

No 2 Man caught filling car with cooking oil in Congleton

In the early days of the new 'cost of living crisis', we were the first news outlet to report on this man filling his car with cooking oil in Congleton.

He was spotted doing it on the Clayton Bypass - ironically - near the Tesco Petrol Station.

No 1 Congleton: Sneak preview inside new bar The Little Street Cellar

The most recent entry on the list, and the most popular.

In May, we went for a sneak preview at a Congleton brewers' first ever bar.

The Little Street Cellar, opening later this summer, is a charming and unique watering hole on Little Street.

We met the couple behind it in this most read article of 2022 so far.
