The new owners of The Bulls Head have big plans for the pub.

Co-operators and couple Jamie and Phil Parry took over at the end of April.

The Mill Street pub is their second pub in the shires, and their third pub in total.

The pair took over their first pub in their hometown of Wrexham for eight years, before then moving to Oswestry in Shropshire for three years.

They have now been promoted by their brewer to a bigger pub, which is the iconic Congleton pub.

"We love The Bulls Head for its size, it is about three times larger than our last pub", said Jamie.

"The beer garden is really appealing, and the living accommodation is fantastic.

"All the people have been really welcoming as well."

Benefitting from Congleton's countless new houses and changing demographic of our town, The Bulls Head will hope to introduce events, which will have something for everyone.

"Our plans for the immediate future are to get music acts on at five o'clock every Sunday," added Jamie.

"We'll get the DJ back on the Saturday, and we'll continue with Sky Sports.

"We'll toy with a few ideas this summer. Maybe a midweek karaoke, we're definitely going to be starting a smartphone pub quiz. And possibly introduce a pub bingo midweek as well.

"It would be nice to add something new outside as well."

The pub - which was known for their support of charities in their previous regime - will also continue to support local good causes. There is a charity pot at the bar raising money for Congleton charity Visyon.

Phil will work days, and Jamie will work nights. And there are four other Congleton residents who work there.

They are also seeking more staff, in particular for the weekends.

They are also hoping to give a platform for Congleton musicians, as well as inviting those from further afar.

There will also be an Elton John tribute on June 19.
