A teenage boy has been released under investigation after he was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a teacher at Congleton High School.

At around 11.30am on Friday (23rd April), Cheshire Police received a report of a pupil having assaulted a teacher at the secondary school on Box Lane, Congleton.

Officers attended and arrested a teenage boy on suspicion of assault.

After being interviewed in custody, he has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

The teacher was not injured as a result of the incident.

Cheshire Police confirmed that there have been no reports of any weapons being involved in the incident.
