What's Congleton like for people who are LGBTQ+?

Congleton Pride is a registered charity and group that offers friendship to LGBTQ+ people in Congleton as well as advocating for LGBTQ+ rights.

The first Congleton Pride event in July 2019 was a big success, but the 2020 event had to be cancelled. The team has still been active in social media and planning for the 2021 event.

Meanwhile, the group wants to learn how else to support LGBTQ+ people in Congleton so they are conducting two surveys.

The first one is for the general public, to gauge opinions and attitudes, and the second for LGBTQ+ people themselves to share their experiences in Congleton.

Each survey takes about 5 minutes to complete and both can be found on the Congleton Pride Facebook group or using the links below.

For LGBTQ+ people click here.

The surveys will close at the end of 2020.

Congleton Town councillor Kay Wesley, who is also a Congleton Pride Trustee, said: "Congleton is a great place to live but discrimination can be found anywhere. We wanted to learn more about the experience of LGBTQ+ people living in Congleton so we can help drive positive change where it is needed.

"We also recognise that the Pride event is just once a year and the survey asks what other ways LGBTQ+ people would like to get connected."
