A crash has shut a main road into Congleton.

Emergency services are currently in attendance following a crash at the junction of Holmes Chapel Road and Davenport Park Lane.

Two Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service engines arrived at the scene shortly before 2pm on Tuesday (July 1).

A CFRS spokesperson said: "Fire crews are in attendance at a two-vehicle road traffic collision involving a car and an LGV.

"Firefighters have assessed one casualty trapped in the car and decided to carry out a full roof removal to release them.

"The road is closed, and fire engines are being used to fend off traffic while the incident is dealt with.

"Please avoid the area while the incident is dealt with."

They were subsequently handed over to the care of paramedics to be taken to hospital by ambulance.
