The very first bike and burger fundraising night organised by a Congleton town centre café proved a "tremendous" success.

Bear Grills, on Market Street, Congleton, raised £104.44 from the evening and the café will double the amount raised, bringing the total to £208.88.

The money raised will go towards the Rossendale Trust.

Reacting to the success of the first event, Mark Winder, owner of Bear Grills Café, said: "Heartfelt thanks to all the amazing scooters who made the ride out to our café, it put Congleton on the map."

Congleton Town Mayor, Cllr Denis Murphy, who attended the event, said: "The turnout was tremendous, the enthusiasts who made the ride to Congleton were a great bunch.

"Well done to Mark and the team for organising such an impressive event, all for a good cause. I hope this is the first of many."

The next Bike & Burger night is due to take place on Thursday, 29th July 2021.
