Lacing Together - Community art project, exhibition and gallery
Congleton Town Hall
Community Events
Sunday 9th March
We are excited to announce Lacing Together, a community art event celebrating Congleton's heritage and creativity, to be held alongside our Spring Craft Fair at Congleton Town Hall on Sunday, 9th March, 2025. This project centres on the theme of lace, a craft that reflects both the intricate artistry of the past and the connections that bind communities together.
The project will include:
• A Community Art Creation: Local residents and visitors will collaborate with local makers to create a unique public artwork inspired by the theme of lace. Each participant will be assisted to contribute a small lace piece to form part of a larger collective artwork to decorate one of the iconic Congleton Bears.
• Lacemaking Displays: Informational displays about local lacemaking, which played a role in Congleton's development, with examples of contemporary lace. We will also have some items of historic lace from The Potteries Museum's collection.
• Art Gallery: A curated gallery showcasing artwork created by local artists that explores the beauty, symbolism, and history of lace.
