Public toilets in Congleton temporarily closed due to Capitol Walk refurbishment

The company behind Capitol Walk's big refurbishment has temporarily closed the public toilets which form part of their building on Market Street whilst works are taking place.
Congleton businessman Tino Martone is the new owner of the former shopping precinct.
The temporary closure came into effect from yesterday (Monday 24 May).
Congleton Town Council has arranged to open the Princess Street toilets located at the Congleton market site whilst the Market Street toilets are out of action.
The Princess Street toilets will be open seven days a week from 8am to 4pm. Normally they are only open on market days.
Capitol Walk soon to be bars and restaurants is due to open later this year.
Market Street public toilets, until recently, were under the ownership of Clowes Developments were part of the Capitol Walk development.
An agreement between Clowes Developments and Congleton Town Council saw a basic refurbishment of the public toilets in 2017 and the day-to-day operations of the public toilets became the responsibility of Congleton Town Council.
The town council are currently responsible for the daily opening and cleaning of the toilets and also utility costs (water and electricity) at the public toilets site.
The new Capitol Walk owners have informed the town council that the public toilets will be relocated to a different unit of the Capitol Walk site.
The new location of the public toilets will still have external access for residents, as well as internal access via Capitol Walk.
No discussions have taken place between the town council and the new owners of Capitol Walk regarding the current agreement for the town council to open/clean the public toilets and pay utilities of if this agreement will continue.
