Twenty-three vehicles were clocked speeding on a Congleton road yesterday evening (Tuesday).

Congleton West Police officers, armed with a hand-held speed gun, were on Newcastle Road (30 mph speed limit) monitoring traffic after concerns from residents.

A Cheshire Constabulary spokesperson said: "Speed Enforcement has been carried out on Newcastle Road this evening. 23 vehicles were exceeding the 30mph limit."

Nub News reported yesterday that between 4:10pm and 5:15pm on Monday, there were 20 vehicles registered speeding on the A34 Newcastle Road.

Speed enforcement was also carried out on the same road on Friday morning (24th July) between 9:30am to 10:30am, where 10 vehicles were found to have been exceeding the speed limit.

Congleton Police Officers are one week into a six week Road Safety operation #OpAssembles.

Speed checks will be commenced daily in hotspots all around Congleton and the surrounding areas. This is in response to concerns residents have about speeding.
