PILATES FOR BACK PAIN - MASTERCLASS WITH DR CHRIS NORRIS
Back pain is so common that 4 out 5 of us will suffer at some stage in our life.
Rest and drugs are often used with surgery in extreme cases. But did you know that exercise therapy can really help?
In this 3-hour Pilates Masterclass, local Physiotherapist and Pure Balance Pilates teacher Dr Chris Norris, author of the textbook Back Rehabilitation (Routledge publishers 2023) will take us through an introduction to the use of exercise as a therapy.
What will the Masterclass involve?
We will begin the session with a simple talk and then move on to learn practical scientific based exercises to help you recover from a bad back and return you to your normal daily activities.
You will learn:
- How your spine works - Simple language for a complex structure
- What can go wrong? - Sprain, strains, discs, nerves and joints.
- An introduction to the 3R's approach - Managing your back pain.
- What to do when you are in pain - First aid for back pain.
- When things begin to get better - How do we start exercise?
- Clinical Pilates for back pain - Let's start with the basics!
- Moving on following recovery from back pain - Caring for your back in the long term.
