A couple of local award schemes have been launched to recognise those who are going above and beyond to help the community throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
The schemes have been set up to honour key front line workers, who are fighting Covid-19 on a daily basis and to acknowledge residents within the community, who have helped others during the crisis.
Bare Health are asking the people of Congleton and its surrounding areas to nominate their coronavirus heroes.
The Bare Health team said: "There are so many people doing wonderful things for others in our community right now and we feel that these selfless acts of kindness and love are more than worthy of a well-deserved treat!"
In collaboration with several of their "wonderful" suppliers, Bare Health is making up 50 surprise goody boxes and they're making 50 surprise thank you doorstep deliveries over the coming weeks.
To nominate your hero, you need to direct message Bare Health's Facebook page and send the following:
• Nominee name
• Your name and contact number• A short paragraph of your reason for your nomination
Bare Health will then enter all the nominees into a draw and the recipients will be randomly selected. The closing date for applications is 1st May (Friday).
Congleton resident Mark Bailey, who runs Alsager's The Honey Pot Tea Room has also organised an NHS and Community Awards Scheme.
Mr Bailey set up the scheme with the aim of getting people in the Congleton and Alsager areas recognised for their selfless heroic efforts and to be officially honoured at an awards ceremony when such events can take place.
There are 12 categories:
• Nurse or doctor• NHS hospital member of staff (not a nurse or doctor)
• Supermarket shop worker• Community worker
• Neighbour• Family member
• Friend• Business
• Other medical staff (pharmacist, local doctors' staff)• Emergency service
• Team award• Other individuals that don't fit into any of the above categories.
Residents can send in their nominations over the next three months and the name of every nominee who has been recommended will go into a 'pot' and a have a chance to win an award.
Each nominee will receive a letter and certificate within seven days of receipt of their nomination, informing them that they have been nominated for an award.
The Honey Pot will host two awards nights, one at Lawton Memorial Hall, Church Lawton, for nominees received from Alsager, Church Lawton and Kidsgrove areas, and a second one at the Congleton Golf Club for the nominees from the Congleton area.
In addition to the request for nominations, Mr Bailey is also asking for individuals and businesses who would like to sponsor an award to get in contact.
Sponsors who donate a suitable prize for winners will have their name attached to the award, will form part of the judging panel and can both announce and present the award during the ceremony.
All nominations must be in writing and sent to Mark Bailey, 25 Walgrave Close, Congleton, CW12 4TS.
Any resident or business who is interested in sponsoring an award or has anything else to offer can email [email protected] or call 07722008421.
