Congleton residents have only tonight, 2 November, to comment on the Castle Green Homes development, Mount Pleasant Farm.

Castle Green submitted a third amendment to their housing plan of 400 homes, which was initially proposed over a year ago.

The proposal includes the demolition of certain existing buildings and the erection of residential dwellings (Use Class C3) with access, car parking, landscaping, public open space and associated infrastructure.

Use this link, or type 1930/22C into the planning portal to find out more about the proposal.

Residents of Lower Heath, Giantswood Lane or Daisybank Drive area estates have been the most enthusiastic to share their responses to the proposal, which is sited just off Giantswood Lane.

A resident of Daisybank Drive, who is in opposition of the build claims that: "The development is now fully divorced from the attractive farmhouse building we see off Giantswood Lane which was sold off separately and is therefore immune.

"We are left with the same number of 400 houses in the development which still has the connection to Giantswood Lane auspiciously as an emergency only exit alongside the separated farmhouse property. Car parking restrictions on Giantswood Lane would be required next to this access to allow emergency vehicles.

"There are very few changes made to the main stretched out 650 metre cul-de-sac entered from Viking Way through parcels B,C and D terminating before Giantswood Lane.

"Many local authority planning rules prohibit a cul-de-sac of this length which still has no large vehicle turning circle at its termination required by many authorities (e.g. for refuse collection).

"The development at parcel D still has an estate road sweeping within five metres of Sandy Lane with the potential of incursion onto this private lane where the owners WestLow Fisheries have already rejected a still shown proposed cycle lane link on to their road.

"Residents of new houses built close to Giantswood Lane here in parcel D face a long winding cornering route off the estate onto Viking Way. There are new paths linking between the 2 Viking Way entrances but not wide enough for cars so they are both still cul-de-sacs for vehicles.

"The development does not compare well the adjacent approved Redrow development just on the opposite side of Giantswood Lane which has left land for wide sweeping estate roads leading on to the A34.

"Here there are still just too many houses with insufficient vehicle access provision from distant Viking Way which will put pressure on future vehicle access provision at Giantswood Lane.

"If you rejected this application before then it is clear little has been done further with this application so reject again."

However, many are in favour of new homes being built in the area, with affordable homes being a priority for many.

Castle Green Homes, who build across the country, promise 'Timeless Homes Crafted for Modern Lifestyles'.

The self-proclaimed 'forward-thinking homebuilder' has been in business for 35 years.

The group said: "The name Castle Green encapsulates the core values behind our team and our homes. 'Castle' conveys the heritage that we have built up over the past three and a half decades; while 'Green' underpins our aspiration to deliver homes in line with the Government's Green Revolution pledge."
