Congleton Lawn Tennis Club's members are thrilled that they will be able to return to the courts on Monday, 29th March as lockdown restrictions continue to be eased in the Government's roadmap.

And members will be greeted by a resurfaced court four that has been re-laid with a new Tiger Turf surface.

At the club AGM on 22nd March, which was held virtually by Zoom, it was agreed that the membership fee for 2021/22 would be just £80 for adults making the club one of, if not the cheapest in South Cheshire.

New members can join for an even cheaper fee of just £50 for 12 months.

Also, at the AGM long-standing servant of the club and current club chair John Doe stood down from office.

John was elected as the new vice president and also became a life member of the club. Dave Lonsdale was also given life membership of the club.

Rob McNinch was elected as the new chair of the club after a closely fought vote and members welcomed Rob into the role.

Organised tennis sessions will commence once the club can reopen and will operate in line with the latest COVID guidelines from the LTA and the clubhouse will only be open for use of the toilets.

Coaching will also recommence, and head coach Craig Leese can be contacted on 07795 144154 to discuss coaching options.

The first tournament of the new season on Wednesday evening 7th April is the Spring Fun Tournament.

This is sponsored by Radchester's Garden Ornaments and is now fully booked as members are keen to return to competitive tennis.

The club will again be entering teams into the South and Mid Cheshire leagues with seven men's teams, five ladies' teams and four mixed teams due to be in action this season. The season is due to start in May.
