Congleton Lawn Tennis Club members were grinning from ear to ear just like the famous character in Alice in Wonderland , when Tina Bena from the Cheshire cat Distillery visited the club to launch their sponsorship of the club's ladies singles championship for 2021

The winner of the prestigious tournament will take away not only the historic silver cup but also a large bottle of the sponsors Queen of Hearts Pink Gin

Cong Bear has a wicked forehand

Following a busy year so far for the club, Congleton Lawn Tennis Club is hoping to build on a successful gradual exit from lockdown and capitalise on the excitement generated by Wimbledon, by opening the club up to new potential members with an offer of free tennis sessions.

Anyone interested in trying out tennis for free can do so between Friday 2nd and Friday 23rd July.

The FA has confirmed that Congleton Town have been granted their appeal over lateral move to the Midlands Football League and will remain in the North West Counties League Premier Division at Step Five for the 2021-22 season.

Alongside fellow NWCFL sides Hanley Town and Whitchurch Alport, the Bears looked set to compete in the Midlands Football League Premier Division from next season, which would have resulted in an average away trip of 56 miles, each way.
