Now, let's get our teeth into the best events happening this Bank Holiday weekend in Congleton!
Come On The Bears!
While league glory has gone for our town's football club this season, they could still secure some silverware. The Macron Cup beckons, with another fixture this weekend.
The Bears take on Lancashire side Bacup Borough on Saturday, who are one league below Congleton Town FC.
As a result, the 3pm kick-off at the Silk 106.9 Stadium serves as a top chance for Congleton to get into the semi-finals of the Macron Cup. So why not cheer them on?
Tickets can be bought on Booth Street on the day. Adults £6, Concession £4, U16s £2.
Music Festival Celebrates Five Year Anniversary
For the entire duration of the Bank Holiday weekend, a Congleton music festival will be celebrating their fifth birthday.
It was half-a-decade ago when a bluegrass festival began at Clonter Opera Theatre Swettenham Heath, Trap Road.
And now there are still tickets left for this celebration of old-timey pre-rock, hearty guitar music.
Crossover Festival began in 2017 and is organised by Julie, Eleanor and Emily Cross, who have attended Bluegrass and Old Time festivals for over 20 years. Julie, Eleanor and Emily wanted to create an event that enables the full festival experience, including; on site camping, a family friendly feel, excellent bands, a variety of workshops, space for sessions, dance displays and a communal area for jams, stalls, food and drink. On top of everything, they wanted people to have a great time!
Yours Sincerely
Also in local arts, non-profit venue Electric Picturehouse will have comedy theatre on this weekend.
On Saturday at 7:30pm, the Spindle Street spot will welcome Yours Sincerely.
The LGBT comedy has character Will Jackson accidentally stealing 300 second class stamps from the post office. The plot then sees him writing letters to old acquaintences with mixed results.
Set in the current day, the quirkiness of sending letters in 2022 is capitalised on in this quirky and irreverent comedy.
Just 25 tickets are left. Get them here from £10 each. Saturday, 7:30pm.
Beartown Soul
Congleton finds it's Northern Soul groove this weekend, with a toe-tapping event at Congleton Town Hall.
The public building on 7 High Street will turn into a retro disco this Saturday evening.
You'll hear 70s soul and motown classics, as well as the greatest Northern Soul records that swept the north west of England all those years ago...
The boogie night aims to raise money for Congleton charity Ruby's Fund. The Saturday night event is also in memory of DJ Andy Hulme.
And while this event is sold out, we thought we'd mention the fact that you can still donate to the Roe Street kids charity, which will show demand for more events like these, and also serve as a tribute to the late local disc jockey. More info here.
Don't forget, it it is also the Makers Market this weekend. But we're sure you knew that already!
And that is it! Enjoy your weekend Congleton!
