Mike Tingle's Monthly Miscellany series of talks at Congleton Library continues on Monday afternoon, 14th September at 2:30pm in the Downstairs Meeting Room, where Mike will present Old Oswestry.
Entry is free, but donations are welcome.
His illustrated presentation will take you on a virtual tour of this important English Heritage site – a 3,000 year old Iron Age Hill Fort just outside Oswestry town – one of the best preserved in Britain. Mike will outline its history and development, former and present inhabitants, an d its flora and fauna. You will also see an intriguing footpath sign, learn the difference between Wat's Dyke and Offa's Dyke, the significance of a silver disc embedded in the ground, and hear about the site's unsolved mystery feature.
