Learn to live more sustainably as Congleton Green Festival returns
By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 14th Sep 2026
Families are invited to discover a greener side of Congleton at this year's Green Festival.
The free event, organised by Congleton Town Council and Congleton Partnership, will bring together around 30 local businesses, community groups and organisations.
Taking place from 10am to 3pm on Saturday, September 26, it will offer visitors the chance to discover new ideas for living more sustainably while enjoying a fun day out in the town centre.
Town Mayor, councillor Suzy Firkin, said: "We want this year's Green Festival to be about much more than simply visiting a row of stalls. We want people to come into town, have fun, get involved and discover something new.
"There will be lots for families to enjoy, from circus skills and our human butterflies to the many hands-on activities taking place throughout the event. At the same time, visitors can meet some of the fantastic organisations and businesses working to make Congleton a greener place.
"You don't have to be an environmental expert to enjoy the Green Festival. Whether you're looking for a fun family day out, want to discover a new hobby or are simply interested in finding some easy ways to live a little more sustainably, there will be something for everyone."

With around 30 stalls, there will be plenty of opportunities to make, do, discover and get involved, rather than simply walk around looking at stalls.
Visitors can expect hands-on activities, demonstrations, crafts, environmental projects, nature and wildlife information, sustainable businesses and community organisations, with lots of ideas that can be taken home and put into practice.
For younger visitors, a children's entertainer will be bringing circus skills to the Green Festival, giving children the chance to have a go and learn some new skills.
Visitors will also be able to meet some rather unusual guests – human butterflies, who will be spreading their wings around the event and offering visitors the opportunity for a very special butterfly hug!
