Hail the Ale Conner is the only beer to brand the Congleton 750 logo, so we thought we'd give it a go.

Brewed by Congleton brewers The Roving Beer Company, the hazy pale ale is modelled from what Congletonians were drinking centuries ago.

The appearance of the beer resembles a cloudy haze, a nod to the watered down beer that Congleton residents young and old would drink in our town's early days.

It is hoppy, handmade, and unfiltered. It claims to be 'naturally hazy'.

The beer itself has a strong body, great aftertaste, and goes down easy compared to other 4.5% beers.

You can buy it in 440ml cans, with one costing £3.50.

The label of the beer said: "Brewed for Congleton's 750th year celebrations and to hail the town's new 'Ale Conner', or Ale Taster.

"The original 1272 Town Charter appoints an ale taster to ensure the quality of ale and bread, plus regulate the prices and measures in which these items were told.

"This hazy pale ale is typical of the appearance medieval ales would have had.

The Roving Beer Co's Matt Jones helped bring the beer to life. He'll open The Little Street Cellar on Little Street this summer. (Image - Alexander Greensmith / Congleton Nub News)

"Grab your goblet of finest ale & raise a toast. Hail the ale Conner!"

While currently limited edition, it would be a shame to see this flavourful beer go after Congleton 750's celebrations end. So why not show your support?

You can buy the special brew in a four pack for £14, and a case of 12 for £36.

You'll also be able to buy it in person at the upcoming Congleton Food Festival, and indeed in an upcoming venue related to the brewer.

The beer is 4.5% alcohol, which is equivalent to 1.98 UK units. (Image - Alexander Greensmith / Congleton Nub News)

The Roving Beer Company will open their first taproom in town later this month.
