A van driver has been arrested following a crash.

Emergency services were called the A34 Newcastle Road on Thursday (March 20) following reports of a crash between a van and a motorcycle.

Cheshire Police officers arrived at the scene, near the junction of Brownlow Heath Lane, at around 12.30pm.

Upon arrival they found the rider of the motorbike, a 63-year-old man, had sustained 'serious injuries' and was subsequently taken to hospital.

Meanwhile, the driver of the van, an 18-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Police are now urging anyone with information which may assist in their investigations to get in touch via www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us or call 101 quoting IML 2051405.
