Congleton Park's much-loved café is back open.

Everybody Health and Leisure officially have reopened the park café, having taken over management of the site earlier this year.

Mayor of Congleton Robert Brittain was invited to cut the ribbon at a ceremony on Friday, November 14.

Councillor Brittain said: "This beautiful pavilion café really helps the jewel in the crown of Congleton shine a little bit brighter!

"Our community spirit is so important to the town and having this historic building open to the public once again means that people can meet, connect and share experiences in this brilliant space."

In 2005, the café building had fallen into a state of disrepair, with the park attracting very few visitors.

Fortunately, a lottery grant helped to fund the building's renovation and revitalisation.

Then, in 2010, up stepped Congleton born-and-bred Lisa Whitehurst who approached Cheshire East Council with her vision for Stock at the Pavilion.

Stock would go on to win numerous awards and could nearly always be found near the top of TripAdvisor's rankings.

However, the popular café closed for good back in March of this year.

Over the summer, it was announced that Everybody Health and Leisure would be taking over operations.

It is the company's tenth café and the second under their 'Taste For Life' brand.

The café quietly reopened at the end of October ahead of the official opening ceremony on November 14.

Everybody Health & Leisure CEO Thomas Barton said: "It is absolutely fantastic to have this café back open for the community in Congleton to enjoy.

"We are really passionate about encouraging people to get out into the green spaces around our towns and having somewhere welcoming to visit for lunch or a coffee makes those visits more enjoyable!

"Thank you to everyone who has worked so hard to get the café open and to Congleton's Mayor Councillor Brittain for coming down to help us throw open the doors!

"We hope to see you all here soon."
