They first came to the attention of the team when cars were stolen from driveways in Haslington, Congleton and Sandbach.

The cars had been stolen without their keys. The men had used a piece of equipment that reads the signal from the car keys in the house to open the car door and start the engine. This was found in a car belonging to Haroon when he was arrested

A car used in their crimes was also registered to Hassan and which was also used by his brother Asad. The keys were found on Hassan.

A subsequent search of their address uncovered a large amount of car parts in the garage. These were identified as being parts of cars that were reported stolen from various areas of the country.

Officers went on to link the men to the thefts with evidence that put them in the cars and the addresses of the victims from phone analysis to CCTV and other investigative methods. They also discovered they talked about the cars and their crimes in messages on their phones.

DC Ben Harrington said: "These men worked together to steal high value cars but made the mistake of targeting Cheshire residents.

"They are now facing the consequences of their actions."
