Congleton's newest beauty salon is in the running for a top industry award.

JK Nails & Beauty Studio has been named the Cheshire finalist for Best New Salon at the UK Hair and Beauty Awards.

It comes just week after the salon opened its doors at 5 High Street.

Owner Kirsty Kelsall said: "The recognition from the UK Hair and Beauty awards is just the icing on the cake!

"The awards ceremony is on August 15, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the judges love the space as much as me and my clients, but it's a privilege just to be a finalist. "

Previously a seamstress at Derek Rose, Kirsty first ventured into the world of beauty seven years ago.

Having always rented out chairs at other studios, last year Kirsty looked set to finally get her own space at Congleton Market Quarter before the move fell through.

Now, her dream has been realised, with JK Nails & Beauty Studio opening next door but one to Congleton Town Hall on Saturday, April 27.

Kirsty said: "After renting spaces for 7 years, it was time for me to go solo and its always been a dream to have my own shop with beautiful big windows!

"The location is just perfect, I get to be right amongst the community, enjoying everything the town has to offer.

"I had a vision and with the help of family and friends it came to life. I especially want to thank a local artist, Leyla Duckworth, who created the most beautiful display in the windows."

On what the rest of 2026 holds, Kirsty added: "Moving forward through my first year I want to do some refresher courses to make sure I'm giving the best service I possibly can."
