Two Congleton businesses have introduced a 'pay it forward' initiative after being inspired by a local resident.

Both Bear Grills Cafe and Wild & Wild loved the initiative by Lelli Pixie that much, they have decided to introduce the idea at their businesses.

Mark Winder, owner of Bear Grills Cafe, on Market Street, said: "With so many people financially struggling, out of work, veterans or homeless we just all need to do as much as we can.

"Here at Bear Grills we start from today (21 October, a 'pay with a post it' initiative."

How to post it?

When you go into Bear Grills order just buy an extra coffee, tea or even a breakfast.

Staff at Bear Grills will give residents a post it to write a nice message on and then pin it to their board.

When someone in need comes into the café, they would pick the post it note and exchange it for their free item, courtesy of you.

Mr Winder added: "Going hungry, thirsty or cold is not something we want to see this winter.

"Help others in need, by buying an extra item. We, the people of Congleton can do this."

A spokesperson for Wild & Wild, on Bridge Street, said: "These are hard times we find ourselves in. We have a new board.

"Pay for a coffee or a lunch for someone else and we will pop it up on a post it note.

"So that if someone comes in and their struggling they will have their community behind them.

"If your struggling right now feel free to grab yourself a free coffee and accept help. That's what it's there for."
