TV's Chris Packham has posed in a t-shirt designed by a Congleton-born artist.

The nature and wildlife presenter has wore a design by Becca Smith.

Becca is a former pupil of Dane Valley High - now Eaton Bank Academy - and grew up in the Buglawton Council Estate. She lived in Congleton for over three decades.

She is now based in Macclesfield, where she is raising awareness for the 'SAVE DANES MOSS' campaign through designing t-shirts, now worn by telly's most famous nature-man.

The shirt draws attention to almost 950 homes Cheshire East Council want to build on the fringes of a nature reserve on Congleton Road in South Macclesfield.

Chris Packham tweeted this about the shirt: "@DanesMoss are working tirelessly to save a peatbog from ⁦@CheshireEast and @BarrattHomes, who refuse to rethink their disastrous plans to develop this rich wildlife habitat. Can you help them ? Please RT."

The image of him wearing the shirt has since had almost 900 likes.

Becca replied to Chris with "Thanks so much for your support Chris! P.S I handprinted that t-shirt you are wearing."

You can buy the shirts at Scoop and Scales in Macclesfield, or browse a variety of shirts for the campaign online. You can follow the local artist on Facebook.

Cheshire East Council previously responded to the campaign with ""If the council did not proceed with this development on its land, it is very likely that the private sector would take the lead and the council would have much less control over the ultimate development of the land.

"The Council is committed to combatting climate change. Through our Environment Strategy and Carbon Neutral Action Plan we have committed to becoming carbon neutral in our own operations by 2025 and to assist with reducing the borough's carbon footprint."

You can find more about the campaign here, here, here and here.
