A Congleton school is looking forward to welcoming back pupils following another successful GCSE results day.

Year 11 pupils across Cheshire East received their GCSE results on Thursday, August 20.

At Eaton Bank Academy, students secured an impressive range of top grades, paving the way for the next stage of their education.

Director of sixth form, Stephen Jenkins, said: "We are delighted with the results our students have achieved and are excited to welcome many of them into our thriving sixth form.

"We offer a broad range of courses, alongside a supportive environment in which students can develop the skills and confidence they need for their future.

"We look forward to helping our new year 12 students make the most of the opportunities ahead and wish all of our students every success in the next stage of their education and careers."

"We are incredibly proud of their achievements and of the resilience and determination they have shown along the way.

"I would also like to thank our parents, families, teachers and support staff for the encouragement and guidance they have provided.

"GCSE results day is an important milestone, and I hope our students take a moment to recognise just how much they have achieved and enjoy celebrating with those who have supported them."

Amongst the students celebrating was Sophie Brown, who achieved 9s in business, combined science, dance, geography, maths, Spanish and further maths.

Sophie said she had 'worked very hard' and was 'delighted and surprised' by some of her grades.

She will continue her studies at Eaton Bank Sixth Form, taking two of her favourite subjects, maths and Spanish, alongside economics.

Joining her at the school's sixth form will be Max Knibbs, who combined strong academic achievement with his passion for sport.

With three 9s and three 8s under his belt, he will be studying A-level geography and business alongside PE through a BTEC sport qualification.

For many students, their GCSE results represent an important milestone as they begin to take the next steps towards their future career goals.

Aspiring doctor Jess McCall will remain at Eaton Bank Sixth Form to study chemistry, biology and history while Lana Green is looking towards a future in ecology and conservation, with plans of studying the subject at Bangor University.

Freya Fairbrother is also looking ahead to university, with plans to study journalism and media and ultimately work in television.

Ted Keen, meanwhile, was particularly pleased with his 9 in maths and 8s in further maths and art and design.

He will study A=-level chemistry, physics and maths, with the aim of pursuing a career in finance.

With an apprenticeship firmly in his sights, Nico Hamilton is looking forward to starting his automotive maintenance and repair course at college, fulfilling his long-held ambition of working with cars.
