Town council allocates 'free bus day' to Congleton Jazz & Blues festival

You can get into town for the upcoming Congleton Jazz & Blues for free.
Congleton Town Council has allocated the second of its four 'Free Bus Days' from Cheshire East Council to the popular music festival's opening day on Saturday, July 29.
All the buses within the Congleton boundary (see map below) will be free of charge for everyone.
This includes the 'Beartown' Buses 90, 91, 92 and 93A/C, circulars to and from Mossley, Bromley Farm, Buglawton and West Heath respectively, as well as the numbers 38, 42, and 94, for the portions of their journey within the Congleton boundary.
Councillor Kay Wesley, chair of the town council's community committee, said: "I'm delighted that the town council has agreed to make our second free bus day coincide with Jazz & Blues.
"The festival is one of the highlights of the town's calendar, with venues across Congleton coming together to celebrate the event.
"It attracts a large number of visitors, and we hope that offering free bus travel on the Saturday will encourage people to leave their cars at home and enjoy the festival in a more sustainable way."

The scheme is part of four 'Free Bus Days' granted to towns across the borough, paid for by the UK Government through the Cheshire East Bus Partnership.
The first free bus day was used for the Congleton Pride Event; the bus uptake was 22% higher than a normal Saturday.
At the recent Food & Drink Festival in June, the town council itself paid for the Beartown Circular buses to run on a Sunday (they are normally Monday to Saturday) and to be free for passengers.
Bus usage that day was up 55% compared to an average Saturday and passenger feedback on the free services was very positive.
Councillor Wesley added: "I got the bus to and from the Food & Drink Festival, and it was good to see the buses looking full and lots of people trying the bus for the first time.
"Many thanks to the Cheshire East team for making these Free Bus Days available.
"The buses will also very soon be providing Real Time Passenger Information, which makes catching the bus even easier."
