'A beat for every heart' - Congleton Jazz and Blues returns this August bank holiday weekend
By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 18th Aug 2026
Congleton Jazz and Blues returns on the August bank holiday weekend!
Now a cornerstone of the towns' cultural calendar, this year's festival promises to be the 'most eclectic yet'.
For two days, August 29 and 30, Congleton will be transformed into a musical trail as 22 local venues play host to more than 80 live performances, all of which are free to attend.
While staying true to its soulful roots, the 2026 lineup expands its horizons to feature a diverse mix of jazz, blues, pop, indie, rock, and country.
Mark Bailey, chair of the festival organising committee, said: "Our goal has always been to bring the community together through the power of live performance.
"By incorporating indie, rock, and country alongside our traditional jazz and blues acts, we're ensuring there is a beat for every heart in Congleton and hopefully there will be sufficient to entice and please our festival patrons."

Umbrella Parade
Saturday, August 29, sees the return of the Umbrella Parade, which has become a real favourite for families as it winds through the town.
While there will be some umbrellas handed out, attendees are encouraged to bring their own to join in the spectacle.
Participants will assemble in Little Street from 1.15pm and will march through the pedestrianised areas to the Community Garden on Lawton Street.
Organiser Jo Money said: "Our long-serving The Beartown Stompers have retired their instruments and have been replaced by a Dixie-trio for this year's parade.
"We are incredibly grateful to the 'Stompers' for their years of excellence in performance and entertainment.
"They are a splendid example of community spirit and much loved for that."
Lineup

Official programmes are now available at participating outlets around town, including Congleton Town Hall.
