UPDATE: Fire at derelict building

Fire crews checked the temperature of the derelict building on West Street with a thermal imaging camera throughout the night.
Nub News reported that shortly after 4.30pm yesterday (17th May) fire crews discovered a fire on the second floor of the property on West Street.
Eight fire engines have attended, two from Congleton, one from Alsager, one from Crewe, one from Holmes Chapel, one from Sandbach, one from Bollington, one from Lymm and aerial appliance.
UPDATE 9:45am today (18th May)
A relief crew from Bollington remains on the scene. Nub News will keep you updated on this incident.
A Congleton Fire Station spokesperson said just after 9:45am: "West Street remains closed between Wagg Street and Antrobus Street following a serious fire – please avoid the area."
At 6pm yesterday evening, a Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson stated: "The incident has now been sectorised.
"Residents nearby are being advised to keep all windows and doors shut."
At 8pm, an Alsager Fire Station spokesperson said: "The fire is now under control. Firefighters have worked internally wearing breathing apparatus alongside our Aerial Ladder Platform to extinguish the fire. We will be in attendance for some time."
At 9pm a Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Firefighting has stopped. The crews used a 13.5m ladder to cut away affected areas and roof tiles.
"A partial closure of West Street will be in place throughout the night and three fire engines and an aerial appliance remain on scene."
