'True community gem' set to reopen just in time for bank holiday heatwave
By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 19th May 2026
A 'gem' of the Congleton community is back.
Congleton Town Council has confirmed that Congleton Paddling Pool will reopen for the summer season on Saturday, May 23.
A much-loved attraction since the 1930s, the pool's reopening comes just in time, with temperatures set to soar into the 20s over the bank holiday weekend.
Town Mayor, councillor Robert Brittain, said: "The paddling pool is a true community gem that brings joy to hundreds of children and families every summer.
"It's a place where memories are made — and the fact that it remains completely free and accessible to all is something Congleton is incredibly proud of."
The town council-run paddling pool, found on Park Road next to Daneside Theatre, will remain open until Sunday, August 30, and is accessible for all children aged 11 and under.
During the May half-term holiday (week commencing May 25) and throughout the main summer holidays, the pool will open seven days a week with two daily sessions:
- Morning session: 10am – 1pm
- Afternoon session: 2pm – 5pm
During term time, the paddling pool will operate from Wednesday to Sunday and will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
No booking is required for general public sessions with entry completely free and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
However, there is a maximum capacity of 140 people per session and once the pool reaches capacity, visitors will be asked to wait until spaces become available.
Congleton Town Council has also confirmed that Ruby's will once again be running SEND sessions on Wednesdays, with final details still to be confirmed.
