Travellers have set up camp on the Congleton Leisure Centre car park.

At least four caravans were seen parked up at the leisure facility on Worrall Street, this morning (March 19).

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At 11.05am police were informed of an unauthorised encampment at Congleton Leisure Centre.

"The caller reported that four caravans and one car are present. Officers will pay passing attention to the site."

A Cheshire East Council spokesperson said: "One of our officers is visiting the site to visit the unauthorised encampment and make an assessment of next steps."

Nub News reported in July last year that Cheshire East requested a court date and would be serving a court summons to secure an eviction order against a group of travellers, who arrived on land near to Congleton Leisure Centre.
