Cheshire East Council has requested a court date and will be serving a court summons to secure an eviction order against a group of travellers, who arrived in Congleton on Saturday morning.

Nub News reported yesterday that the group had been served with a notice requiring them to leave by 5pm yesterday (Tuesday) to prevent further legal action being taken.

However, the unauthorised encampment on land near to Congleton Leisure Centre, Worrall Street, remains on site.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "We are aware that this group has failed to comply with the councils request to leave the site at Congleton Leisure centre.

"Cheshire East Council are now requesting a court date and will be serving a court summons to secure an eviction order."

A Cheshire East Council spokesperson told Nub News: "The council is aware that this group has not complied with the council's request to vacate the site by the specified deadline.

"We are requesting a court date and will be serving a court summons to secure an eviction order."
