Some main roads are expected to be closed for numerous months in order for highways maintenance and improvement works to be carried out.

According to 'OneNetwork' Cheshire East Council's online highway system, it stated that Newcastle Road at Newbold Astbury would be closed from its junction with the Village Hall at Astbury to the junction with Childs Lane at Brownlow.

The system stated that the closure order was implemented on Friday (July 17th) and will continue for 18 months, although it was anticipated the works would be completed by the end of April 2021.

However, Cheshire East told Nub News today (Wednesday) that they have not yet set a date for the white lining work to commence.

Cheshire East's online highway system also showed that the full extent of Church Lane, Odd Rode (Scholar Green) would also be closed from Friday (17th July).

Nub News reported last week that the A534 Sandbach Road at Newbold Astbury was also due to close entirely from outside Hilltop Bungalow to Post Box Cottage. It is anticipated that the work will be completed by 11th September.
