Local presenters have used their radio show as a platform to express their appreciation to Congleton residents and businesses, who have gone above and beyond during the coronavirus pandemic.

Canalside Radio 102.8FM presenters, Sharon and Stuart Neild, who also run the Congleton News and Views Facebook group, wanted to give the unsung heroes that make our little town such a lovely place to live the recognition they deserve.

The Neild's told Congleton Nub News: "We've got some great people and businesses in our little town and we love supporting them.

"They have really shown that in this crisis they've been there for the people of Congleton and helped everyone in this lockdown."

They continued: "Gaz Lewis does a brilliant job running Nailed IT! which is a group dedicated to helping people with mental health issues.

"Shaun Radcliffe is doing an amazing job running the Food hub which he has been doing right from the start of this crisis.

"He has been delivering food parcels and prescriptions to people who are isolating or who are vulnerable.

"We also have Leo Deen, who has been delivering free eggs to hospitals and care homes in Cheshire.

"Plus, local hero Callum Bloor who has raised a lot of money for the NHS via a Just Giving page and is providing shower gels and much needed items to the local hospitals in and around the area."

Sharon and Stuart set up another local group called 'Shop Congleton' back in January to help support local businesses and to create footfall in the town.

However, due to lockdown, businesses have had to adjust and adapt, using new methods to continue trading whilst adhering to government guidelines.

The Neild's praised businesses like Wild & Wild, who have "really adapted" and been delivering vegetable boxes, which also include essential items to in and around Congleton and Cheshire East.

The pair also commended Bare Health, who run a small business selling health products and have adjusted by delivering their items locally.

The Neild's added: "There are lots of other businesses that have been invaluable during this lockdown including PC Produce who were there from the start, providing vegetable boxes locally.

"Neil Sherratt from Congleton Kitchen who has been delivering meals locally, and many many more."

All the names mentioned will be interviewed on their radio show on Canalside Radio 102.8 FM.

The show will also have an update from Susan Munro, who will be speaking about what Elizabeth's group has been doing during lockdown.

If you want to listen to the interviews tune into Canalside Radio at around 3pm on Sunday and again on Monday just after 6.30am.

The interviews will be broadcasted over various weeks and there are further interviews planned with more residents and businesses in the Congleton area.
