Multiple new flats could come to Congleton's High Street.

A planning application on the Cheshire East website suggests a pair could be coming to 52 High Street.

It wants "Alterations to convert vacant upper floor retail storage space into 2no. upper floor 1 bedroom apartments, with associated internal and external works."

The space where the accommodation could go was formerly used by the now-shut Carl Christopher Jewellers.

The corner plot backs on the Moody Street, and is inside a Listed building.

New rear door access would be created, as well as a new bin store and cycle shelter. This residential proposal would make the retail space below a self-contained shop with no upper floor.

Congleton locals can make comments until mid-March, when a decision is also set to be made.
