Firefighters called to barbecue fire at beauty spot

By Tom Avery 1st Jun 2020

Firefighters were called to a blaze at a popular beauty spot in Congleton.

A crew from Congleton and Macclesfield attended Tunstall Road in Congleton at around 9.30am yesterday (31 May).

A disposable barbecue had caused grass two metres by two metres to smoulder at the Bosley Cloud.

A Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Crews put out the fire and used a shovel to cover the area with soil to prevent the affected area reigniting."

Nub News reported yesterday that firefighters were called to an unattended camp fire in Banky Fields shortly before 9.30pm on Saturday (30 May).

The incidents come just days after firefighters warned residents to be aware of the devastating consequences of fires in open spaces following an increase in incidents across Cheshire.
