Driver caught using flashing blue light to beat 'terrible' Congleton traffic

A driver has been caught using a blue light to beat the traffic.
Officers in Congleton spotted a silver 4x4 using a flashing blue and red light driving along the A54 earlier today (April 1).
When stopped, the driver said he used the light to get through the 'terrible' traffic.
While this may sound like an April Fools' joke, Sergeant Rob Simpson confirmed it was very much a real situation.
He said: "This vehicle was displaying flashing blue and red lights as it was driving through Congleton on the A54.
"When we stopped the driver, he explained how terrible the traffic is in Congleton and how he uses the lights to get through it!
"It was just past midday so certainly not an April Fools' joke, we couldn't believe the drivers attitude, he simply thought it was okay!
"The male will be dealt with for the offences."
Police have asked anyone who has seen a silver 4x4 using such a light in and around Congleton, either today or previously, to get in touch by calling 101.
