Congleton Slimming World consultant appeals for stolen banner to be returned

By Tom Avery 18th Feb 2021

A Congleton Slimming World consultant has issued an appeal for her stolen advertisement banner to be returned.

Tracy Grocott, a consultant at Congleton Cricket Club, had displayed her Slimming World banner on the railings outside Tesco, on the Congleton Retail Park, Barn Road, since Friday, 22nd January.

However, when she went to move her banner on Sunday (14th February), it was nowhere to be seen.

Tracy's colleague Laura Bounford contacted Ruth Burgess, Streetscape Manager at Congleton Town Council, who assured her that neither town council staff nor Cheshire East Highways had taken the banner down.

Tracy wondered whether the banner had fallen victim to the windy conditions, but after closer inspection it was "clear it had been taken" as the cable ties she had used had been "clipped off" and left on the ground.

Mrs Grocott told Nub News: "I know it's only a banner, but last year during the coronavirus pandemic, I decided to join Slimming World as I was overweight and worried about being obese and catching coronavirus.

"I joined my local group and lost 4st 7lbs. My consultant approached me about becoming a consultant and I jumped at the chance.

"Slimming World is an amazing company to work for and if I can help just one person with their struggle to lose weight, I would be delighted."

Slimming World groups are also working with Public Health England and Cheshire East in the fight against Covid-19, as losing weight and living a healthy lifestyle reduces the risk factors associated with Covid-19.

Mrs Grocott concluded: "Some people don't even know our groups are still running virtually, so that's why the banner is so important to me, to let the people of Congleton know."

If you have any information regarding the banner, call Tracy on 07771923618.
