High Street in Congleton.
High Street in Congleton.

Congleton: Our parent company is hiring a talented business journalist to become our next Business Editor.

As you may know, Nub News loves to celebrate local business and support our high street.

So we've created a brand new position that will support just that, and continue our mission of quality independent journalism for all things Congleton.

We're looking for a highly-motivated journalist who can find and publish original and exclusive local business stories every day.

The position will include you writing for Congleton Nub News, alongside six other sites across Cheshire and Staffordshire.

Our North-West Business Editor will be publishing content across Nub News sites in Macclesfield, Crewe, Sandbach, Alsager, Congleton, Biddulph and Leek.

Ideal candidates will have the skills to build a network of local business contacts across a county patch – talking to big employers and successful corporates, while at the same time showcasing young entrepreneurs and local independents.

Above everything, the new Business Editor will know how to publish colourful, human stories that generate excitement and engagement.

You'll also be able to build a social media profile to maximise your audience.

As you would expect, the new Business Editor will need to have entrepreneurial spirit, working with other local Nub News editors to build audience and revenues. Anyone is welcome to apply.

Nub News is an innovative, digital local news platform that gives its journalists the power to take ownership of their sites.

Our sites don't rely on programmable adverts so there are no pop-ups and you won't have to publish content designed solely to generate clicks.

Nub News is always looking for enthusiastic applicants who care about both their community and their journalism and who want to enjoy their work.

We're already revolutionising local news. Now we want to revolutionise local business.

The Business Editor post comes with a competitive salary, an annual bonus and participation in our share option scheme. We want all our journalists to benefit from the increasing success of Nub News.

If you think you could be our North-West Business Editor, email Editorial Director Mike Sassi at [email protected].

All applications must arrive before 5pm on Friday, June 10.
