Congleton Inclosure Trust's quarterly meeting was held on 27th January by Covid-safe Zoom.

The meeting was chaired by Janet Goodier and 11 trustees attended.

It was confirmed during the meeting that previous promissory grants had been released — £30,000 to Ruby's Fund towards their Buy Our Building appeal and a £20,000 final instalment of £60,000 to Eaton Bank Academy for their new 3G pitch.

At the start of the meeting, the chair spoke a few words about David Daniel, the president of the trust, who had died on 13th January.

She thanked him for all his dedicated hard work for the trust. A minute's silence was observed by the trustees.

New trustees David Beech and Pamela Newman were welcomed, along with re-elected trustees Brenda Cook and John Hulse.

Minutes of the October meeting were approved, and D Gibbons gave a summary of the trust's investment situation and portfolio update.

Trust clerk Jo Money confirmed that during the last quarter of 2020, £9,000 in grants had been made to organisations within the trust area of benefit and new grants totalling £4,700 were approved by the trustees.

These grants will go to Guide Dogs for the Blind, Dane Valley Community Energy Education Display Boards, and Congleton Pentecostal Church, towards building repairs.

Letters of thanks and project updates were received from New Life Church Storehouse Food Bank, East Cheshire Hospice, the Symphonia Verbum Orchestra, Congleton Partnership, Somerford Parish Council, Congleton Community Projects for their lantern workshops and Congleton Park Bowling Club.

The next meeting which is the annual meeting of the trust will be on 28th April and any new grant applications for local good causes are requested to be submitted before Wednesday, 31st March for consideration.
