Firefighters stopped a large fire in Brownlow which contained wood and metal from reaching a nearby outbuilding.

Firefighters were called to a fire on land off Childs Lane, Brownlow, shortly before 5pm today (Thursday).

A fire engine from Congleton and Alsager attended the scene.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Crews wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to put out the large fire which contained wood and metal.

"They stopped the fire from reaching a nearby outbuilding.

"Crews then continued to check for hotspots while damping down the area."
