A new computer coding class for kids has made its way to Congleton Library.

The class will run on Mondays at 5:30pm with limited space available for those who want to attend, those aged between seven and 11 are invited down to the library to have a go at learning how to code computers.

The sessions will focus on computer programming and coding, not just for video games but robotics and 3D printing also.

Congleton resident Richard Hind has set up this class and will be the one to teach the children at Code Club.

"I think it is immensely important as it teaches children about problem solving and teamwork that helps not just for this subject but all areas of life," Richard explained.

Richard ran a similar and successful coding class in Northwich Library for two and a half years back before the pandemic, then after moving to Congleton, he decided that he could do a similar job here.

"I wanted to deliver these classes as it was something that I would have given anything to attend at that age, so having the knowledge and the ability now allows me to give back and provide something I wished existed as a child.

"Sometimes for the children they see coding, making video games, 3D printing and some of the things we do as quite lofty or impossible things, but I wanted to provide access to show them that they can all achieve these things, and how to begin on that journey." Richard went on to explain.

The sessions will be free, with only six spaces available. In order to book your place head down to Congleton Library, and speak to a staff member.
