Congleton: our town's football club has been sponsored a beloved town centre business.

Bear Grills Cafe, named after the British TV adventurer, has stood in Congleton town centre for the best part of a decade.

They are helping out our town's community football club, who are nicknamed The Bears, with a sponsorship of an unknown amount.

The figure must at least be in the hundreds of pounds, and potentially thousands.

This sees the Congleton lunch-makers occupy a prime, pitch side advertising board and advertisement space in the home programme for the rest of the 2021/22 season, in all competitions.

Bear Grills Cafe will join seven other sponsors, which include non-profit Mind, Body & Sole of Congleton's Chapel Street, and Cleric Computer Services of the Greenfield Farm Industrial Estate.

"We are delighted to share with you details of our new sponsorship deal with Congleton Town FC," said Bear Grills owner Mark Winder.

"We are very keen on promoting the best in Congleton and supporting the local football club, coming out of the awful past 18 months they and we alike have endured, is a clear statement of intent for Bear Grills and Congleton Town FC to further strengthen local business links.

"We believe passionately in Congleton, it's people and those businesses that support the local economies.

'"This is the first sponsorship deal we have taken on and we will be looking to add more during the next 12 months'," Mark added.

"We feel it's very important for Bear Grills as an established Congleton business, to support where we can."

Further to the sponsorship deal, Bear Grills has agreed to install a new "sporting hub TV" at the Market Street café.

"Chas from Congleton Town has kindly donated a new TV and wizardry, that will allow details of all upcoming fixtures, results events etc, that the club wish to promote to be visible in the bar" said Mark.

"This information Hub is another example of how we intend on supporting local businesses going forward.

"Take a look next time you visit us and support The Bears when you can."

Congleton Nub News have contacted Congleton Town FC for comment.

Congleton Town's next fixture is against another Cheshire team.

They will play Ellesmere Port's team - Vauxhall Motors this weekend.

The Motormen sit in ninth, five places below The Bears in the North West Counties Football League Premier Division table.
