World-Renowned Artist Ramesh Darji Finds a Permanent Home in Congleton

The extraordinary life's work of internationally acclaimed artist Ramesh Darji has found a permanent home in Congleton, Cheshire — marking a new chapter in a career that spans over five decades, and a vast contrast of cultures.

His vast archive — hundreds of original works, sketches, and studies — is now curated locally by The Darji Expression Gallery, a new Congleton-based art initiative dedicated to preserving and sharing Darji's legacy through exhibitions, cultural events, fine art sales and print releases.

To celebrate this milestone, The Darji Expression Gallery will host a special exhibition,

Ramesh Darji – A Life in Colour, from Friday 21 to Sunday 23 November 2025 at Riverside, Mountbatten Way, Congleton (CW12 1DY). Entry is free, with free parking available at the rear.

Curator Matt Fisher said: "Ramesh's art tells the story of his life — from India's rich cultural energy to the calm of European living and now the beauty of the Cheshire countryside.

"While his styles have evolved dramatically, the same subjects, vision, and message shine through.

"It's a remarkable collection, and we're thrilled to share it with the Cheshire community."

Darji's paintings have featured in prestigious exhibitions across India, Hong Kong, Singapore, Switzerland, the UK and more, including solo shows at The Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai and works held in Embassy buildings in the Netherlands. His career also extended to Bollywood cinema, where he worked as an art director — infusing film visuals with the same emotion and storytelling found in his paintings.

Today, this international story has come full circle in Cheshire, where his work continues to inspire new audiences.
