A burglar has been jailed after his blood was found at the scene of a Congleton break-in.
Samuel Holliday, of no fixed address, was sentenced to 16 months in prison after pleading guilty with burglary with intent to steal at Chester Crown Court on Friday, October 23.
The court heard how the 32-year-old entered a flat on Lacey Court on April 29, 2025, and stole jewellery, clothing and medication.
A friend of the victim had been told by Holliday that he was going to break into the flat.
They attended the flat and found windows broken and a number of items missing.
Holliday denied being responsible when he was arrested later the same day.
However, traces of his blood were found on an envelope located outside the flat, while footwear prints examined proved very strong support for the view the trainer marks located at the flat were Holliday's.
PC Helen Weeks said: "The evidence against Holliday which put him at the scene encouraged him to plead guilty and he is now behind bars.
"I hope this goes as a warning to others that we are determined to find those commit crime in Congleton and put them before the courts."
