Northern Girls art collective is a group of Cheshire based professional artists who have held highly successful art exhibitions together over the last 5 years. The exhibitions showcase the diverse yet complementary works of the participant artists- Allie Pottinger, Zelda Pickup, Alison Stafford, Ginny McDermott, Kate Fawcett and Diane Metcalfe.
Allie Pottinger is an artist/illustrator. Recently her career has seen a prolific return to her roots as an illustrator and she is working on various very high profile projects and commissions. Allie continues to run her very popular watercolour workshops, both at Capesthorne Hall and from her studio in rural Cheshire. Allie is delighted to announce she will be exhibiting again at the Mall Galleries, London in November 2025.
Zelda Pickup has developed a semi-abstract style of painting mainly using traditional oils. Using vibrant colours and distorted perspective, she has developed a recognisably individual style both in landscape and still life. Many of her paintings contain hidden messages or quirky humour. Zelda sells her work through exhibitions and online.
Alison Stafford is a Finalist in the SAA Artist of the Year Competition (Abstract and Experimental) 2025, and was the winner in 2024 and runner up in the British Art Prize 2023.Alison delights in sharing her enthusiasm for the benefits of creativity in her adult workshops at her studio in Clonterbrook.
Ginny McDermott produces landscapes and townscapes in oils and acrylic. She has exhibited and sold at the Ryal Academy Summer Exhibition. This year she is on the Longlist for the Visual Art Open with the Visual Artists Association. Her work is available at Gallery.Bollington's Northern Exposure Gallery.
Kate Fawcett's art practice is informed by her other passion, gardening. Through her expressive, loose mark-making, experimental approach and the use of mixed media she conveys the joy that she herself experiences from all things floral.
Diane Metcalfe works in oil over acrylics using brushes and palette knives. In Spring 2025 she had a very successful solo show at The Lion Street Gallery in Hay on Wye and has been asked back for a second solo show scheduled for Easter 2026. Di currently has work available in the mixed summer show at Plas Glyn Y Weddw Gallery on the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales. As we move into autumn, the Northern Girls would once again like to welcome all art lovers to visit their upcoming art exhibition from 19-21 September , 10am-4pm, upstairs at the Clonterbrook Gallery, Trap Road, Swettenham Heath, CW12 2LS
