A Congleton company has found itself on this season's kit for a grassroots football team at the other end of the country.

Slingshot Marketing is backing Mersham Sports Club's Sunday team, who play in the Premier Division of the Ashford & District Sunday Football League in Kent.

The connection came through the team's assistant manager, Lewis Johnson, who is a friend of the agency's founders, Charlie Shaw and Patrick Carragher.

When he mentioned the side had yet to find a sponsor for the season, Slingshot stepped in.

Charlie said: "I've been to a few matches now and they're a genuinely good side and a great bunch of lads.

"Grassroots football only keeps going because people give up their Sundays for it, so when we heard they didn't have a sponsor we were glad to help out."

Congleton-based Slingshot Marketing is a two-person agency founded set up in 2023.

Mersham Sports Club is located nearly 200 miles away, near Ashford in Kent.

Established in 1949, the club is a registered charity and runs football, cricket and archery for all ages.
