A Congleton councillor has said she is "thrilled" with the council's initiative to offer children free cycling lessons.
The sessions – that will run for a fortnight at both the Cumberland Arena in Crewe and Macclesfield Leisure Centre on Priory Lane – start on Monday 17 August. Children will have the option of taking morning or afternoon sessions.

Rotary-Congleton has announced that due to Covid-19 it will cancel all of its planned events until the end of the year at the earliest.
By far the biggest event to be cut is the town Bonfire and Fireworks Display on the first Saturday in November.

A new car wash and valeting service could be coming to Congleton after planning officers recommended the plans for approval, but it may not be open seven days a week as hoped.

FIRE chiefs in Cheshire are encouraging people to review the smoke alarms they have in their homes.
While the majority of homes (91 per cent) have at least one working smoke alarm, statistics show that one alarm may not be enough to provide householders with the best chance of escaping a fire.

From next year, Congleton Town Council has decided to adopt a new approach to grass cutting, which will see their current schedule of fortnightly cuts reduced to once a year in an attempt to preserve wildflowers.
Nub News previously reported that wildflower strips - areas of grass purposely left uncut for wildflowers to self-seed and grow - are planned along sections of Mountbatten Way and Newcastle Road and on Clayton Bypass and Sandbach Road and Holmes Chapel Road service roads.
